Oriental Rococo
“Pink tea party for romantic girls”
2022
The ornate, relaxed oriental extravagant gardens of the 18th-century English Chinese Garden inspired me. With skirts swaying and wind chimes ringing, maidens arrive in carriages, dressed in romantic Pompadour pink and transformed into Rococo girls, wandering through the Chinese gardens in a romantic girlie literary drama. The French dessert platters, oriental porcelain and cascading crystal palace lamps are like a girly tea break in a daydream. It is a place of rest and a refuge for young girls who gently rebel against this magical reality with their costumes. It is not about courting like a peacock but about pleasing oneself. The concept of a daydreaming girls' tea break is expressed in a mischievous and light-hearted feminist stance.
